Pyles Boys Camp BBQ Returns to Raise Money to Support At-Risk Youth
The annual Pyles Boys Camp BBQ returns to help raise money to support programs that help low-income, disadvantaged boys through a no-cost, multi-year wilderness camp supplemented by year-round mentoring.
The BBQ will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from noon to 5pm at R.M. Pyles Boys Camp Kern River Group Picnic area (13375 Lake Ming Road, Bakersfield, CA 93301).
The family-friendly event includes fun for all ages, drawings for raffle prizes, and an outstanding tri-tip dinner that costs $15 for adults and children under 12 are free.
Pyles’ goal for 2022 is to serve 450 young men and to provide $25,000 in scholarships. It costs approximately $2,500 to send a young man through our program with no cost to them or their family. The BBQ plays a vital role in the fundraising since the camp relies solely on private donations.
Located in the beautiful Sequoia National Monument nestled among the Redwoods, Pyles Boys Camp offers great activities such as a ropes course, archery, athletics, arts and crafts, a nature and stargazing program, and a 5 day wilderness trip.
R.M. Pyles Boys Camp is staffed by dedicated and motivated individuals who strive to bring about dramatic and positive changes in the boys who have been Pyles campers.
